I halted in my tracks as I heard what he had said about me. He didn't wait long enough, and was very rude. I shook my head, knowing he had all the reason I be so angry. I made my way outside and pulled myself out a cigarette. I smoked half of it, the whole while holding in tears. Some drunk came up time and attempted flirting. "Fuck off," I muttered to him, receiving several rude answers in return. Fr some reason, I was hoping I would see Mateo out here.

I look up as a drunk brunette stumbles over, her cleavage wanting to spill out of ehr top. I fend off her advances, excusing myself for a smoke. Nope. Not again. I take a sip of my beer as I open the front door, stepping out onto the porch. I pat my pockets, huffing. I start down the side stairs, my dark brown eyes directed on my feet as I walked towards my car. How could I have left them in there again?

Almost done with my cigarette, I raised my eyes to catch a familiar figure. My heart stopped in my throat, unsure of how to react. I flicked my cigarette awa before standing up, ready to head his way. I reached his car and cleared my throat, trying to get his attention. "Wait," I said before he had any chance to react. "We need to talk," I said confidently as I looked up at him.

I pull open the door to my car, reaching in for my pack of cigarettes which were sitting on the dash. I jump a bit as someone clears their throat and I look back, blinking at McKenzie. "What's there to talk about?" I huff, straightening to shut the door and lean against my car, lighting my cigarette to take a drag of it. What did she want? To rub it in my face?

I sighed at his answer, an or some reason this was a lot harder than I had planned. My eyes travelled down to my feet as I struggled for a reply. "It's... A long story." I looked back up at him then I directed my eyes to the car. "Can we sit in there to talk?" I didn't expect a 'yes' from him, but it was at least worth a try.

I almost roll my eyes as she replies that it was 'a long story'. How many times had I heard that before? To how many otehr guys has McKenzie said that to before? A small frown works it way onto my face but I shrug a bit at her question, already opening the back door for her. "Just scoot over to the far side." I mumble, not meeting her gaze.

I nodded quickly and climbed into the back seat of his car, scooting myself to the far end before lookin over at him. I waited until he was in the car before speaking. "First, let me explain. My initial intentions was just something meaningless that night, and that's the problem. It wast meaningless. I was confused, I didn't know what to do so I just left." I looked down at my shaky hands, hesitating before continuing. "I feel I need to tell you this," I said before turning to face him. I begin to explain the story of my mother, hesitating to reach my hand over to touch him.

I raise my eyebrows as she speaks, wanting to jsut blow it all off as bullshit. But, something, some stupid hope inside my chest wouldn't let me. I look down at my lap, picking at my nail as I take another drag of my cigarette, my dark brown eyes meeting McKenzie's blue ones as she starts to explain her situation. Finally I lean over to pull her into my arms, a frown crossing my face. I wanted to keep her safe, not let anyone hurt her.
