The year is 2024. Hogwarts has been rebuilt and open for several successful years since the end of the Second Wizarding war. For that time, everything was calm and normal. There were no attacks, no unexplained murders or kidnappings. Everything was as it should be...
One day, that all changed. Bodies were found, alive, but very badly beaten. No trace was ever found of the attacker. The fact that the victim just happened to be a Metamorphmagus seemed like an unlikely coincidence. Weeks passed with no other incidences so the Ministry chocked it up to a bad day.... That was until two more bodies were found, one a half-giant the other a known half-werewolf. Could it be possible that someone was targeting those with these special abilities? The Ministry didn't want to believe it.
This time, only a few days later, two more bodies were found, again still alive, but very badly beaten, and again they too had special abilities. The Ministry could deny it no longer: Someone was targeting those who were different, maybe even those who were half-breeds. No longer able to hide the fact that something dark and terrible was going on, the Ministry issued warnings to the Wizarding community, to stay vigilant. The added stress was unneeded...
After the War, the Ministry rounded up all the Dementors and banished them to an island far off the coast of Britain. A constant Auror guard is stationed there to make sure the creatures do not escape. They have recently grown more restless, testing the Auror's strength. It seems they are trying to find weaknesses so they can break free. The dark creatures do not like to be caged.
