I needed a break from my everyday life. Foster care was stressful, and it was never fun. I had a sister to raise, and I no longer had my normal stress relievers. All I had now were anti-depressants and anxiety medicines. And I popped those anxiety pills like candy. I always needed them. After my time in rehab, everything upset me. Even something as simple as a bad grade.
So today I was taking a night off. I was gonna skip school tomorrow and take a me day. Starting with an unauthorized swim in the closed public pool. It was around eight pm, everyone was gone from the pool, and it was closed down. I had worked there as a life guard last summer, so I knew the schedule. They shut the cameras off around six, when everyone left. So she didn't have to worry about the cameras. She could swim as long as she wanted.
She easily hopped the fence of the gate, and set her bag and towel on one of the tables. She easily flicked on the water warmers in the office and turned on her music, letting it flow out of the phone on loud. No one would be stopping by the pool tonight. She had it all to herself. She could finally just relax. Once she was certain the water was warm she dove in and started her laps. Wanting to warm up for a while before actually having fun. Outfit; here

I turn off my old Ford truck outside the pool. I open the door and get out before walking up to the fence that encircled the pool. I climb up to straddle it before dropping down neatly on my feet. Or at least that was what was supposed to happen. My luck. My flip flops gets stuck on one of the spires and catches and I go falling to the cement, flat on my back. It knocks tha ir out of me, plus a few choice cuss words. I sit up and groan, more curses spewing from my mouth. I move my fingers and toes- nothing broken, thank God. I stand and pick of flip flop of the top of the fence, dropping it to the ground to slide my foot in. I turn and stop. There was a girl doing laps in the pool, and I'd just dropped in on a late-night swim, literally. A wave of red creeps across my face and I shuffle over to where I'd been sitting earleir that day. I squat down and reach under for where I'd left my phone. Nothing. "Damn it." I say, standing back up. "Uh, left my phone." I tell the girl in the pool, walking over to the lifeguard's tower and opening the box in the base. I pull out my black phone triumphantly, smiling.

I stopped when I hear a thud. I just freeze. Terrified one of the lifeguards came back. That would be my luck too. I would be arrested for trespassing, then I would be carted off to another foster home. My normal routine. Somehow I always managed to get carted off over something stupid. But when I hear a string of curses I relax and turn around, no life guard would have to climb the fence. And none would fall while doing it. I finish my lap and make it to the other side of the pool.
It's a teenage boy around my age, he's cute. And he's wearing a blue and white plaid shirt with khaki shorts. And... flip flops. I giggled at his choice of footwear and then hauled myself out of the water when the boy was at the guard tower. "Left your phone huh? Tsk tsk tsk. Irresponsible." I smiled and shook my hair out. Water droplets littered the ground and I then tied my hair back.
"My names Kali, and you about scared the crap out of me. Thought you were a guard." Outfit; here

"Yeah, glad I'm not a parent. I'd probably lose my child in Wal Mart." I agree, sticking out my tongue at her playfully. Upon closer inspection, it was obvious she was pretty, and around my age, perhaps a bit younger. "Jason." I reply, smiling at her cheekily. "Sorry to, uh, drop in." I continue, shrugging my shoulder helplessly. I mean, I couldn't have just left my phone here overnight- I had people to text. But, the lifeguard would probably be scratching his head tomorrow over where the lost phone had ran away to. "So, what're you doing here all alone at this time?" I ask, plopping myself down in one of the beach chairs and raising my eyebrows at Kali questioningly. I can't help but let my eyes rove over her as she sat there. Nice shape, and lightly tanned skin. My face heats up and I look down at my feet embarassedly, glad that she wouldn't be able to see my blush in the dark.

Jason was funny. That pun, that pun was funny. Kali giggled and sat in the beach chair next to him. Not bothering to cover up. She would have if she had thought about it, but she didn't. Her mind was on Jason. He was nice looking. His brown ginger hair and his blue eyes were will in her range of her favorite looks. She loved blue eyes, and his hair was close enough to ginger for her. He was her type.
And she could tell he was athletic. Which was nice too. Usually that meant he had abs, and she liked abs. But her mind was brought back to the present when he asked her why she was at the pool. The answer seemed simple to her. She was swimming. And the reason she was alone because her friends wouldn't approve. They didn't approve of breaking the rules. Kali on the other hand, obviously didn't approve.
"Well, isn't it obvious? Swimming. And my friends would be here if they approved of breaking and entering. I'm the only one besides you who doesn't care."
Kali grinned and settled back in her chair, her legs crossed over on another. She grabbed her phone off the table and tapped the pause button, so her music quit playing. She looked over at Jason and stuck her tongue out at him.
"I come out here sometimes to relax. Swimming helps calm me down after a stressful week." Outfit; here

I smile as she giggles at my joke before coming tos it beside me, not getting a towel to cover up. I struggle to keep my eyes fixed on her face, and barely succeed. I can feel Kali's gaze on me, sizing me up, analyzing me. My blue gaze lands back on her, though out the corner of my eyes as I keep my face forward as not to be obvious- I didn't want her to think I was a big or something; I most certainly wasn't. "Ah." I reply with another blush as she answers that she was swimming. Stupid question ,Jason, totally stupid question. "Well, I'd join you, but that would be skinny dipping." I add with a sad shrug of my broad shoulders. I wouldn't mind it, quite honestly, but I didn't think Kali the type to just throw off her clothes to go skinny dipping with some guy she had just met. She reaches over to pause her music and I run a hand over my thick curls. I always hated them, they usually stuck out from all angles off my head. "Anywhom, awkward." I joke, leaning over to playfully elbow her side.

I once again found myself laughing at Jason's joke. He was cute, adorable, and funny. A good combination. "Well Jason, I wouldn't mind skinny dipping, if we were at the lake or the beach. But I don't skinny dip in pools." I grinned and winked at him before watching his eyes roam my body again. Then I realize what I hadn't done before. I laugh and grab my towel off the table. Laying it over my body. "Sorry about that. Always forget to cover up."
I stand up so I can wrap the towel around my whole body and then sit back down. I sit my phone back on the table and then cross my legs once again. "You know, you can always swim in you shorts, or if you're wearing boxers, you can swim in those." I grin and elbow him back in the side and laugh. It was nice hanging out with someone new for a change.

"Damn, terrible luck." I grumble unhappily, poking out my lower lip. I glance over as Kali grabs her towel and I feel my face redden- obviously she had caught my gaze, and she probably thought I was a creeper or a pervert now. Of course I would screw something up; I always seemed to. I shrug my broad shoulders as she suggests that I just swim in my shorts or boxers. "There should be trunks for the lifeguards around here somewhere." I mumble, getting to my feet to wander to the little shed behind the tower. I pull the door to find it unlocked. I fumble around for the switch before stepping in and looking around. I spot the trunks and shut the door behind me, slipping out of my shorts and plaid boxers to pull on the red trunks. I fold my clothes and set them on the shelf where the trunks were and step back out, unbuttoning my plaid shirt as I did so. "Found a pair." I say, stating the obvious. Soon all the buttons are undone and I pull my shirt off, balling it up and throwing it on the chair before running to the edge of the pool and jumping in with a whoop.

As Jason gets up to go find a pair of swim trunks, I take the towel off of my body and fold it back up. I sit it in my seat where I had been sitting, and then click play on my phone. Radioactive by Imagine Dragons come on, and I walk to the side of the pool. I wait until Jason comes back out of the shed before jumping in. But I hold my position on the side while he takes his shirt off. Yep. I was right. Abs. As he gets closer to me I grab his arm, and jump in the water. Dragging Jason with me. I know he'll try and get me back, so before he has time to recover I swim away. I'm about halfway across the pool when he comes back up. "Never trust a girl while she's around a hot guy." I grin and start swimming back to him. If he wants to get back at me, I don't really care. As long as he doesn't try and kill me. Because I don't know him that well yet. It could happen. I giggle as I get closer to him, and splash him with water.

I totally wasn't expecting for her to grab me and drag me into the water. To avoid hitting the edge, I push off with my feet and land in the middle of the pool, staying under for a moment before popping up. When I push my wet hair out of my face and look around, Kali's paddling towards me and I tread water, laughing as I shake my head. "That, my dear lady, was totally unfair." I reply, pointing a finger at her. I grin foolishly as she says something about being around a hot guy- was I really that hot? I mean, girls usually seemed to like me, but that didn't seem to stop them from cheating on me. My face darkens slightly at this but I duck under the water to swim to the shallow end and resurface, cupping my hands to squirt water at Kali. "What we need are some water guns." I exclaim, facepalming. "But, then again, I didn't exactly plan to go swimming." I add with a shrug.

I giggled as I was squirted with water. I, for some reason, didn't peg Jason as a guy to get revenge. Guess I was wrong. I followed him to the other side of the pool, using my back feet to propel me faster. I resurfaced in front of Jason and laughed as I splashed him with more water. "Water guns? Did you say water guns? I can get water guns." I laughed and used the side of the pool to help push me out of the water. I made my way to the shed, which held everything from a life boat(don't even ask, because I don't know) to floaties. And that included water guns. I searched through all the tubs of pool toys, throwing aside noodles and life jackets and grabbed two water guns. Both pretty big in size. Nerf guns. I ran towards the pool and jumped, flipping, and then landing in the deep end. Five years of swimming and diving really pay off sometimes.
I filled up one of the nerf guns as I swam towards Jason, hiding the fact that I was doing it. When I finally got in front of him I handed him his water gun, and then backed up a little. When he went to start filling his up with water, I sprayed him in his pretty little mop of head, ducking under the water quickly afterwards. I knew what was going to happen. We're gonna have a nerf war.

Her giggle was adorable, I had to say. I fled to the shallow end of the pool, and looked back for Kali, who had ominously disappeared. I jumped as she surfaced in front of me, a wave of water meeting my face. I spit out the pool water, making a face as I splash water playfully after her. She climbs out of the pool to make her way to the pool shed which I had recently exited. She runs back with nerf guns in hand, doing an artful flip into the deep end. I gratefully take the water gun from Kali and dunk it under the water to fill it before she shot me on the top of my head. I let out a growl. This was going to be a war. I duck under the water and start towards the deep end, making sure to keep away from the under water light and surfaced under the diving board, waiting for Kali to surface.
